The Grove Hotel

Heritage meets luxury hospitality
At the heart of a historic estate, this ambitious redevelopment project brought new life to a cluster of underused listed buildings—transforming them into a sophisticated hospitality destination. From the award-winning Glasshouse Restaurant to the exclusive Cedar Suite events space, our transformation has significantly increased the hotel’s offer, maximising its assets whilst safeguarding the building’s heritage and original design.
By retaining the historic fabric and charm of the estate whilst delivering a future-facing hotel destination, we have blended heritage and refined, contemporary design, meeting the needs and expectations of the hotel’s worldwide clientele.
The Glasshouse
The Glasshouse is a striking yet light and airy extension to the estate’s restaurant, offering a contemporary dining space that connects seamlessly with its surroundings. A vast, triple-height glass conservatory frames views of the garden terrace, flooding the interior with natural light and creating a bright, welcoming atmosphere for guests.
The glazed-metal structure was prefabricated off-site, enabling efficient installation with minimal disruption. This thoughtful approach enhanced the building process and reflects the project’s broader focus on sustainability and modern construction techniques.
In addition to its bold architectural expression, the extension significantly increases the restaurant’s capacity, improves the flow and functionality of the space, and elevates the overall dining experience. Framed by panoramic views and refined detailing, the Glasshouse now serves as a focal point for both everyday dining and special occasions.

West Wing and Cedar Suite
Our design for the hotel’s West Wing extension added 200 bedrooms, a significant expansion fully supported by English Heritage.
The new Cedar Suite is thoughtfully positioned adjacent to the existing historic buildings, blending contemporary architecture with respect for the estate’s heritage.
The suite features a distinctive oxidised copper facade paired with curved glass, creating a striking yet harmonious presence overlooking the formal gardens. A living roof crowns the Cedar Suite, integrating the building seamlessly into the landscape.
Additionally, the players’ lounge is located within the courtyard of the listed stables, offering a unique and intimate space that connects guests to the estate’s rich history and character.

The projects we have completed at The Grove Hotel have ensured continuity on site, while substantially enhancing the overall quality and range of available facilities at this award-winning luxury hotel and spa.
