Heritage-led renewal of a University icon

Introduction

We were appointed as the Heritage Architect for the Rejuvenation of the Main Building.

The goal was to create support spaces in line with curriculum requirements, encompassing Lecture Halls, Seminar Rooms, Classrooms, Meeting venues, Archives, and Student and Staff Amenities.

Conservation with contemporary educational spaces

Our scope of work included formulating a conservation management plan and conducting a condition survey, as well as detailing the design for repairing both the exterior and interior building fabric.

This involved addressing crucial heritage concerns, such as integrating building services, adding vertical circulation, improving the approach from the universities main campus to the south, removing modern additions, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
