Steve Phillips  

Steve is a Registered Architect (UK), Partner and Hong Kong studio lead with more than 20 years’ experience delivering heritage, cultural and civic projects across the built environment.

With a background spanning architecture, masterplanning, heritage consultancy and conservation management, he specialises in navigating complex project challenges, balancing environmental sustainability with the preservation of cultural significance. He is a lead advisor for clients across the public, cultural and hospitality sectors on conservation, revitalisation and sensitive architectural interventions within existing environments. His professional interests centre on the stewardship of historic places, urban regeneration and the integration of contemporary design within heritage settings.

Key projects include the Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts in Hong Kong, which received the RIBA International Award for Excellence; the former Bukit Timah Racecourse in Singapore; and alteration and addition works for private members’ clubs including the Hong Kong Cricket Club. His portfolio spans landmark heritage assets, cultural destinations, public institutions, and private members’ clubs, providing strategic conservation advice, heritage consultancy and architectural leadership from feasibility through to implementation.

Steve is an Adjunct Assistant Professor on the MSc (Conservation) programme at the University of Hong Kong and has lectured at other leading universities in Southeast Asia, including the National University of Singapore. An active advocate for thought leadership in the built environment, he regularly contributes to publications, presentations and award submissions that promote best practice across the sector.
