Neil McLaughlin
BSc (Hons) MArch PGDip RIAS RIBA SCA AABC
Neil is an AABC and RIBA SCA conservation-accredited architect with over 14 years’ experience as a qualified architect working across a range of sectors and building types throughout London and beyond.
Neil is passionate about historic buildings and understanding their evolution, including finding sensitive ways to improve their use and functionality, and has a collaborative approach to working with clients, contractors, and the wider design team.
Neil joined Purcell in 2023 as an Associate Partner, and continues to work on a broad range of projects involving historic and listed buildings across all sectors. These include masterplans for country estates to increase revenue generation, detailed condition and repair surveys, and commercial and education projects comprising both conservation and sensitive change.
As well as working on multiple award recognised projects including the Stirling Prize shortlisted London Bridge Station, Neil has been the conservation architect jury member for several awards including the RIBA Awards in 2019, 2022 and 2024, and is an invited assessor for the AABC.
Neil especially enjoys working on buildings from the Georgian period, and as a proud father he encourages his daughter to appreciate the historic built environment and makes very good use of his National Trust membership at weekends.
