Matthew Northover  

Matthew is an AABC accredited senior architect working in Purcell’s York office.

Matthew has several years’ experience leading projects to realise the inspection, repair and reordering of historic buildings, specialising in places of worship. Alongside his role delivering project work in the York studio, Matthew is Head of Technical, chairing the practice’s Technical Leadership Group and supporting the implementation and delivery of the Building Regulations Principal Designer role across architectural teams.  

His particular interest is in the careful and articulated design of interventions to historic fabric. For Matthew, the practical and philosophical challenges inherent in the ever-evolving methods of repair and adaptation of historic buildings is a delight that makes every day in practice unique and exciting.
