Gareth Sewell

Gareth is a Fellow Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and has over 39 years of experience in computer aided design (CAD), Information Technology, and Building Information modelling (BIM).
Gareth’s experience within the built environment covers numerous sectors encompassing residential (Private and Public), education, Science & Technology along with healthcare including mental health facilities where he has acted as technical project lead. He has worked with various companies implementing object-based software having originally started with RUCAPS in 1987 then moving onto Sonata, Reflex, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture and currently Revit. Within these organisations he has developed in-house standards, methods and procedures in line with International and British Standards and the UK BIM Level 2 mandate and the ISO 19650 series of standards.
His leadership in BIM, Revit, CAD, Atvero, ISO 19650, digital standards, training and wider technical support has been central to strengthening the way Purcell delivers projects and maintains quality.
Gareth has advised international Governments on adopting BIM as well as providing training to professionals in South Africa, Vietnam, UAE, Ireland, Chile & Brazil as well speaking at numerous industry events outlining his experience of implementing and using software within the construction industry, expelling the virtues & pitfalls of BIM implementation.
Gareth is the CIAT representative on the UK BSI B/555 Construction, Design, Modelling and Data Exchange committee and a member of the CIAT Special Issues Taskforce as well as Chair of the Digital Task Force.
Away from work Gareth is a qualified PADI Rescue diver and a keen traveller and motorsport enthusiast.
