Claire Humphrey  

Claire Humphrey is an AABC-accredited conservation architect with over 14 years’ experience working in historic environments. She specialises in the conservation, repair and sustainable management of significant heritage assets, advising major organisations on maintenance strategies, conservation-led development and early-stage masterplanning.

Her work spans a broad range of sectors, including cultural and heritage sites, higher and further education, ecclesiastical buildings, and high-end residential properties. Recent commissions include projects at Tatton Park, Hull Maritime Museum, Burghley House, and the Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site.

Since joining Purcell in 2014, Claire has led the delivery of numerous complex projects across the North of England. She is experienced in managing multidisciplinary teams, navigating sensitive stakeholder environments, and overseeing projects from inception through to completion on site.

Claire has a particular interest in the philosophy and practical application of building conservation, currently furthering her expertise through the Professional Development Diploma in Historic Building Conservation and Repair at West Dean College.

Alongside her role at Purcell, Claire serves as Architectural Advisor to the Sheffield Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC), providing specialist guidance on the stewardship and development of historic church buildings
