Alasdair Ferguson  

Alasdair is an award-winning architect working on heritage buildings, museums and cultural spaces from Purcell’s Bristol studio. His approach is contextual and thoughtful, with sustainability built in from the start through the reuse of materials, circular economy principles and low-carbon design.

His museum work includes the Shoemakers Museum for the Alfred Gillett Trust in Street, Somerset, where a new gallery extension joins two Grade II-listed buildings, and the new Wiltshire Museum in Devizes, currently in design. A hands-on project leader, he guides complex developments from concept to completion, often with several stakeholders and public funding streams.

Teaching is part of his practice. He is a visiting critic at the Welsh School of Architecture, where he previously led an atelier, and taught at the Birmingham School of Architecture earlier in his career. He also leads Purcell’s work with Design West’s Shape My City, a talent accelerator for under-represented young people aged 15 to 18.
