Winning design unveiled for Queen Elizabeth II memorial

We are honoured to be part of the multidisciplinary team appointed to deliver the Queen Elizabeth II National Memorial.

The scheme, led by Foster + Partners in collaboration with artist Yinka Shonibare and landscape architect Michel Desvigne, will create a lasting tribute to the late Queen in St James’s Park, London.

The memorial will sensitively enhance the historic landscape, providing new public spaces and carefully designed interventions that reflect The Queen’s life, service, and enduring legacy. As heritage consultants, Purcell will provide specialist advice to ensure the proposals are informed by a detailed understanding of the site’s historic and cultural significance.

The final design will be unveiled in April 2026, marking what would have been The Queen’s 100th birthday.

'We’re delighted to be part of the Foster + Partners team for the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial as conservation architects and heritage consultants. A much loved public garden in the heart of Westminster, it has evolved many times over the centuries. This memorial masterplan will bring people together within a new family of gardens in the historic park.'
