Planning approval secured for Devonport House renovation and extension

Planning consent has been achieved for the renovation and extension of Devonport House, located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Greenwich.

This important project involves the sensitive refurbishment of the Grade II listed building alongside a carefully designed extension that meets the evolving needs of the University of Greenwich.  Recognising the heritage significance of the campus and surrounds, the Devonport House Project has been carefully crafted to respect and enhance the World Heritage Site carried out in close collaboration with key heritage stakeholders and neighbours.

In collaboration with Stride Treglown architects, we will deliver thoughtful and sensitive enhancements to the existing building. These will include the restoration and repair of the building’s historic fabric, internal reconfiguration to improve functionality, thermal upgrades to enhance sustainability, and the addition of a new glazed link that seamlessly connects the extension with the historic structure.

This collaboration highlights how heritage and innovation can coexist, delivering long-term value for the university and the wider Greenwich community.  The project will create accessible spaces for community use, new and enhanced routes with access into and through the World Heritage Site and provide open, green landscaped space for all to enjoy.

‘We are delighted to be part of this project, ensuring the heritage of Devonport House with a sensitive refurbishment of the historic building whilst integrating sustainable and modern design elements’.
