Heritage as a catalyst for regeneration: Purcell attends UKREiiF 2026

Another successful year at UKREiiF in Leeds for 2026.

Our fringe event, ‘Heritage as a Catalyst for Regeneration’, brought together experts from architecture, public sector leadership, cultural industries and planning, to examine the strategic, financial and social value elements of heritage-led development.

Through practical methods and real-world examples, the panel shared insights into regeneration through place-making and adaptive reuse, drawing on perspectives from Hull City Council and Purcell. Norwich City Council were also on the panel, exploring how to unlock funding pathways for heritage-led development, offering guidance on building robust funding cases and navigating the process from inception to delivery.

Together, these themes showed how heritage capital can underpin forward-looking development that delivers long-term benefits for local economies, communities and the environment, creating places that inspire and strengthen resilience.
