Elizabeth Tower wins RIBA National Award

The restoration of the iconic Elizabeth Tower has won a RIBA National Award.
The conservation project has been the most extensive in the tower’s 160-year history, and has seen the tower comprehensively repaired while undoing previous interventions, and extending its life cycle before the next refurbishment to 50 years, safeguarding its future as a cultural monument and heritage site.
This immense project wouldn’t be possible without the joint up effort of a huge multidisciplinary team: project managers, quantity surveyors, structural engineers, and craftspeople, who used a variety of traditional trades – stone masonry, gilding, glass cutting, and horology – celebrating our architectural heritage and preserving skillsets in decline.
