Elizabeth Smith joins 2026 RIAS Doolan Award judging panel
Purcell Chairperson, Elizabeth Smith, has joined the judging panel for the 2026 RIAS Doolan Award, continuing her work to champion architectural excellence across the UK.
Presented annually by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, the RIAS Doolan Award was established in 2002 and is the country’s most prestigious architectural prize.
It represents the culmination of the RIAS Awards programme, with all winners of a RIAS Award considered for the accolade.
Liz will chair the new award’s jury, recognising projects that demonstrate the creativity, skill and stewardship required to protect historic buildings while ensuring their continued relevance. Her role on the 2026 Doolan Award panel extends this commitment to thoughtful, enduring design across Scotland’s built environment.
Alongside her fellow panel members, Liz will visit each shortlisted project to assess its architectural integrity, relationship to place, usability, delivery, execution and approach to sustainability before selecting Scotland’s best building of 2026.
