Celebrating Pride, community and belonging at Purcell

This Pride Month, colleagues are coming together to celebrate inclusion, visibility and community through the launch of Purcell Pride.

Beginning with a pilot programme in our Bristol studio, the initiative aims to create opportunities for connection, allyship and engagement across the practice.

Colleagues and allies from across the practice will come together to take part in the Bristol Pride and industry events such as Pride in Construction, celebrating diversity, building connections and demonstrating Purcell’s support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

This initiative is about our people and reflects the values that shape our Employee-Owned practice: creating a culture where everyone feels welcomed, supported and empowered to be themselves. By taking part in Pride events and building connections across the industry, colleagues have the opportunity to celebrate identity, strengthen relationships and contribute to a more inclusive built environment sector. The initiative was put forward through Purcell Pitch, an Employee Council-led programme that invites colleagues to propose ideas and initiatives that can enhance the practice, strengthen our culture and improve the employee experience.

The Bristol pilot is intended as the first step towards a wider Purcell Pride network, creating opportunities for colleagues across our studios to connect, share experiences and champion positive change together.  As Pride celebrations continue to bring people together across the world, we’re excited by the opportunity to celebrate our diverse community and the values that shape our culture.

"It’s been incredibly rewarding to see an idea that began as a Purcell Pitch turn into something tangible. Purcell’s involvement in Pride goes beyond the events themselves - it’s about helping to build a longer-term legacy for inclusion within the practice.

The support I’ve received has shown that ideas are listened to at every level, and that there is a genuine commitment to creating an environment where people feel able to be themselves at work. I’m proud that this initiative reflects the kind of culture we want to continue building at Purcell."
