Can the Crooked House be rebuilt?

How do you go about rebuilding something that has slipped, over many generations, into the crater of a decommissioned mine shaft, becoming 'Britain's wonkiest pub'?

Liz Smith speaks to Building Design Magazine about how she would approach what has become one of the country’s most unlikely - and high profile - restoration projects

South Staffordshire Council has ordered the owners of Britain’s wonkiest pub to recreate it as it was before its unlawful demolition.

With the salvaged bricks there will need to be a careful process of reviewing their potential for reuse, both for restoration authenticity and sustainability reasons, Smith says.

“It is likely that much of what was rescued will be reusable, or at least used to inform the process and details of reconstruction.”
