We are seeking a Building Surveyor to join our in-house Surveying Team, either in Bristol, Oxford or London.

This would suit someone who is either RICS or working towards RICS chartership.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for historic buildings who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and who is capable of delivering building surveying services to a high standard and to deadlines. It will involve working on projects across the south of England, often on buildings of national heritage importance.

The role

Your key responsibilities will be as below, but not limited to:

  • Site surveys to assess building defects and assess remedial works
  • Preparing illustrated reports with the necessary background research
  • Preparing specifications for repairs
  • Providing high quality and timely advice to clients relating to building material condition and performance
  • Attending meetings with clients and their consultants and assisting in giving appraisals of building material condition and building material performance.

 

The position may also involve (subject to previous experience):

  • Administering construction contracts
  • Preparing fee proposals and contributing to bids

In-house training and development will be provided with the purpose of you swiftly becoming an asset to the practice and to support you through the probation period. The successful candidate may need to apply for security clearance to be accepted for work on some government sites.

Other opportunities:

  • Developing an individual specialism in relation to historic buildings or building surveying in discussion with your Line Manager/Regional Partner.
  • Attending external training courses to expand your own knowledge base and to develop your individual skill set
  • Developing and using new technologies to aid in surveys
  • Promoting the practice through writing articles for journals, newspapers, the Purcell website and appropriate social media.
